PRODUCT INFORMATION
PRODUCT INFORMATION
This collection of three short stories from early America includes Washington Irving’s Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Rip Van Winkle, Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Birthmark, and forewords to each story written by Kevin Slack, who teaches the Hillsdale College Online Course on these three short stories. These tales, all appropriate for an autumnal evening, explore the emerging character of the new American people during the early years of our republic, and the larger questions about man’s connection to the spiritual realm, to nature, and to science.

This anthology is the official course companion for Hillsdale College's free online course American Folktales.
